Connection Symbols
General
Connection symbols are used to represent or control the connectivity of an Elecdes drawing.
Ebase uses these symbols to create connection schedules after interconnection analysis of your circuits.
The connection symbol types are:
Terminal Symbols:
Wire and cable core(conductor) marker symbols:
Symbol File names
The file/block names for most Connection symbols begin with a prefix of 'h' or 'v'.
The second character in the block name identifies the connection symbol type. This informs Elecdes that the symbol has the set of attributes for a certain type of connection symbol.
Second character choices for connection symbols:
-
C - cable marker.
-
W - wire marker.
-
T - discrete terminal.
-
F – ferrule/(Wire Label) tag.
-
S - special control symbol (wire connect dot, strip terminal, conductor termination)
Elecdes Symbol Naming Conventions
Special Terminal symbols
Multi-Terminal Device Terminal Symbols:
A selection of terminal symbols are named HTTERMP and VTTERMP.
These terminals are used exclusively to represent device terminals for Multi-Terminal Device symbols.
These terminals are not reported as discrete terminals during Ebase Bill of Materials reporting but are found during Ebase interconnection analysis.
Hybrid Terminals:
A selection of terminal symbols are named HTHT, VTHT, HTHD and VTHD.
These symbols represent terminals of equipment that is external to the project. They are called Hybrid Terminals.
These terminals are not reported as discrete terminals during Ebase Bill of Materials reporting but are found during Ebase interconnection analysis.
Other "special" control symbol files in this directory are:
ZONE.dwg - zone tag symbol.
1LZONE.dwg – Single line diagram demarcation symbol.
Directory
The files for these symbols are all found in the following directories:
-
Connection symbols: <EDS>\IMP_CNCT and <EDS>\MET_CNCT (for metric users).
Location on the Menu
-
Discrete terminal symbols can be found on the
menu. -
Wiring and cabling symbol insertion functions can be found on the
menu.
Insertion Procedure
Termination Block Insertion is discussed further in the Ebase help.
