Introduction

The following tutorials are intended to show you the basics of creating drawings with Elecdes Design Suite and using the database and reporting facilities of EDS.

The tutorials are provided in a movie format.

These movies are used to show you the procedure for each step in the tutorial.

You may view each movie several times, to become familiar with the procedure, before attempting a step.

Note on catalog data:

During these tutorials catalog data is selected for many components. We will always choose the appropriate data for any symbol but not necessarily for the circuit the symbol is placed in. When you create real circuit diagrams, you will need to consider the components relationship to other components in the circuit [and other design criteria] before selecting catalog data.

How To: Draw and View Simultaneously

Day 1 Tutorials: Elecdes and Protogen

Day 1 tutorials are provided for all users of EDS.

Day 1 tutorials will introduce drawing circuits with Elecdes and an overview for using Protogen.

Day 2 tutorials are split between users who wish to produce instrument loop drawings and users who wish to produce electrical schematic drawings.

Day 2 tutorials provide detailed instructions for creating and modifying circuits with Elecdes and Protogen. They also cover automated creation of terminal strip diagrams.

Day 3 tutorials are provided to enable users to customise symbols (add new symbols), slide menus for symbols and add new catalogs. The tutorials are split with separate tutorials for each topic.
