How to Check Which Cables Must be Pulled Together During Installation

General

Paneldes provides a pull together list, which is a report of the cables that must be pulled at the same time as those cables currently marked as issued. The list is compiled by tracing the routes of all of the cables and listing those that share conduits with each issued cable.

NOTE: You should not re-run the route optimisation while you are in the process of marking cables as issued. When you re-run the route optimisation, conduits used by issued cables will become blocked to other cables. Only perform further routing when you have finished marking the cables that are being issued.

The pull-together list is the only cable report that can be updated while you are marking cables that are being issued.

Procedure

  1. Select the Route and Cable Locking entry from the Routing: Wire and Cable menu.

If you have not modified you model, you can load cached data to reduce the time required to load the route segment connections and panel and device lists.

  2. Click the Update pull-together list button.

  3. You should follow this procedure after you mark a cable as issued, but prior to further running of the routing optimisation.

File information

  • The issued cables pull together report is a DBASE 3 compatible database file.

  • The file will be named "<project>IssuedCablesPullList.dbf".

  • The database file will be generated automatically in your Elecdes project directory.

Viewing

The report can be opened from Cable Manager, see How to view wire and cable reports.

File structure

The data base file structure is the same for both wires and cables.

e.g. A typical row in the report

Cab1, "One or more cables are NOT marked as issued", Cab3, *Cab5, *Cab7

This report tells the cable installer that when Cable1 is installed Cable3, Cable5, Cable7 must also be installed AS at some point on Cable1's route Cable3, 5, 7 will need to share at least 1 conduit with Cable1. [It may also be the case that Cable 1 and 3 and 5 share a conduit and at another location cable 5 shares a conduit with cable 7. However they still all need to be pulled together]

This informs the installer that he needs all of these cables to be ready for pulling to avert a "partial pull" situation.

The warning informs the issuer that the issued cable shares its conduits with other cables that are not issued. The asterisk prefix on cable5 and 7 indicates that these are the two cables that have not been marked as issued. If they are not issued with Cable1, then they will use alternative routes when the route optimisation is next updated.
