How to Hide Cross Reference Symbols and Text

Hide cross-reference information

This function will hide selected cross-referencing information, on the current drawing, including reference symbols and the REFERENCE attributes of Elecdes blocks. The reference information to be hidden is moved to the XREFINV layer, which is frozen.

Components hidden in this way will still appear in the cross-reference report generated from Ebase. Only the cross-reference information on the drawing is hidden.

Procedure

  1. Select Hide Selected Cross-Reference Data from the Elecdes > Cross Ref. menu.

  2. You will be asked to select the cross-reference information that you wish to hide. You may select with windows, crossing boxes, picking individual blocks etc.

  3. The reference information you have selected will all be moved to the XREFINV layer.

  4. If you have selected individual references to hide from a list then there may now be gaps in the reference list where the symbols were hidden.

Update the cross-references and the list will be rearranged so that the hidden items are at the bottom of the list and there are no longer any gaps.

You can update the cross-references on a single drawing using the Elecdes function Cross-reference this sheet, or on all of the drawings in the project, see How to Cross-Reference an Elecdes Project (Ebase).

Un-Hide hidden cross-reference information

This function will unhide all of the cross-referencing information the user selects. Reference symbols, text, headers and REFERENCE attributes will all be moved to the layers on which they are normally placed (XREF layer, ETEXT layer and the Symbol layer).

Procedure

  1. Select UN-Hide Selected Cross-Reference Data from the Elecdes > Cross Ref. menu.

  2. The XREFINV layer will be thawed so that the symbols on that layer can be selected. By default this layer is green.

  3. You will be asked to select the cross-reference information that you wish to unhide. You may select with windows, crossing boxes, picking individual blocks etc.

  4. The information you have selected will be moved to the layers on which it is normally placed.

  5. The XREFINV layer will be frozen, to hide any remaining references, not selected above.

Omit items from the cross-reference

You can mark components so that they are always omitted from the cross-reference annotation on the drawing by setting the RSTATUS attribute to "No XREF".

For information on this, see How to Omit Items from the Cross-Reference (Ebase).
