How to Configure the Wire Routing Settings
Select Preferences from the Paneldes Menu. Choose the Wire Routing tab at the top of the dialog.
Connection
Device to Duct | The distance for ducts etc. to connect to panel mounted devices, term-strips etc. |
End to End | The distance for any two panel route lines meeting at endpoints to be connected. |
End to Mid | The distance for any two raceway segments intersecting anywhere along their lengths to be connected. |
Wire Cloud Radius | An alternative distance used to connect devices to panel duct segments when there is no segment within the Device to Duct distance. The distance used for finding segments within a "cloud" around the closest segment that the routing algorithm can find. |
Link Length | Unused |
Max Device to Duct | The maximum distance the Automatic Settings calculator (i.e. on pressing Automatically suggest wire route settings button ) will find for the Device to Duct setting. |
Max End to End | The maximum distance the Automatic Settings calculator (i.e. on pressing Automatically suggest wire route settings button ) will find for the End to End setting. |
Max End to Mid | The maximum distance the Automatic Settings calculator (i.e. on pressing Automatically suggest wire route settings button ) will find for the End to Mid setting. |
Automatically suggest wire route settings | When you click on this button routing algorithm will Automatically find and suggest connection settings for your panel model (currently opened in Paneldes). This button is enabled only when you open Routing:Wire page on Paneldes preferences while Routing and Viewing Wires. |
Routing
Ignore external wires | When enabled, Paneldes will ignore external wires ( i.e. wires connected outside a panel ) while performing the wire route optimisation procedure on single panel model or Multiple Panel Models with Partial Models. |
Ignore internal wires | When enabled, Paneldes will ignore internal wires ( i.e. wires connected within a panel ) while performing the wire route optimisation procedure on single panel model or Multiple Panel Models with Partial Models. |
Optimise Wire Lengths | When enabled, Paneldes will run Paneldes wire optimisation for wires with three or more terminations thus creating optimum order to connect wires for shortest lengths. |
Length Reporting
Trim Wastage | The length of wire to add to each wire route to account for trimming / connecting the wire at each termination. |
Additional Trim Wastage (%) | Added to each length of wire to allow for some extra length over and above the exact length (e.g. for stress relief, trimming, connection etc.). The variables can be either a set size (e.g. 2m) or a percentage (e.g. 10%). Using both settings allows a mix of set value and percentage. |
