How to Edit Components

Edit a component

There are two methods to edit the data for a component.

  • Directly in the component form, which is suitable for limited changes

  • In a full screen row-column editor, which is suitable for changes to many records

Edit directly in the component form

The component data form permits change in the fields of each component's data. Some fields cannot be edited [the component classing fields].

You will be asked if you want to save the changes when you exit the catalog.

Edit in a full screen row-column editor

If you wish to make more extensive changes, click the Edit button. This will allow a full screen edit.

Each row in the editor is a separate catalog record. All catalog records are visible; there is no component filtering. You can add and delete components by adding and deleting records from the file.

The editor will initially set the cursor to the record for the component that was selected in the catalog component list.

Add a component

Click Add, this will append a record to the current catalog file.

The manufacturer code will be set to the number of the currently open catalog file.

Fill in the specification and sizing data for the component in the edit boxes on the right side of the catalog window.

You can copy the data from an existing component to your added component. See below.

Copy a component

You can use Copy and Paste to make an exact duplicate of an existing catalog record. Use this when adding components with similar specifications.

  1. In the component list, select the component that you want to copy.

  2. Click Copy, to store that component record in memory.

  3. Select a new component record in the component list and click the Paste button to duplicate the component in the new record. You may paste to more than one new record after you have copied.
