Raceway Lids

Rectangular raceway segment types (tray, ducting, trench) in Paneldes support raceway lids that sit on top of the raceway. Lids are inserted on Lid-specific layers, so can be shown or hidden independent of other Paneldes entities.

Paneldes supports two types of lids, Catalog and Graphic. These behave differently in how they are defined and drawn on a Paneldes model, and how they affect the Bill of Materials.

A raceway segment specifies its lid using the EXTRAPARTS specification in the AUX4 catalog column/attribute. This can be modified using the Extra Parts Editor when inserting the segment.

Catalog Lid

Catalog lids exist as separate components in the EDS Catalog. They possess the same CLASS as the corresponding raceway segment (TRAYCNR for example), but have a SUBCLASS of LID.

Catalog lids appear as separate items in the Bill of Materials. This means they should be specified and used in cases where a raceway lid is purchased from a manufacturer separately from the raceway itself.

Catalog lids are constructed in Paneldes using the same drawing routines as the raceway segment construction of the same CLASS. This means they should have a similar set of dimensions specified in the catalog. For example, the WIDTH might be slightly larger so that the lid overhangs the edge of the segment slightly (with a correspondingly smaller BNDRADIUS for curved parts), and HEIGHT of only a few millimeters (or a fraction of an inch). Wall thicknesses should not be set.

Graphic Lid

Graphic lids do not exist as components in the EDS catalog. They are purely for visual completeness in a Paneldes model.

Graphic lids add nothing to the Bill of Materials (as they have no catalog specification). This means they are suitable to use in cases where a manufacturer includes a matching lid with the purchase of a raceway segment.

Graphic lids are constructed in Paneldes with a simple rectangular profile and shape, based on the dimensions of the inserted raceway segment.
