How to Edit Drawing Data in Databases

Fundamentals

Once the data has been extracted from the project drawing files into the database, you can edit it.

The best tool for this is the Global Editor. It allows you to edit multiple image databases and can automatically extract the data from the project drawings, edit the data and then write the modified data back to the project drawings.

Procedure

  1. If you have chosen to manually update the image files you must run the DWGs->DBF function before using the Global Editor. By default you do not need to run this function before Global Editing, as the Global Editor will update the image files automatically.

  2. Press the "Global Edit DBFs" button.

  3. The Global Editor will extract the image files if image files are to be updated automatically. Otherwise it will use the existing image files.

  4. You can now change the data in the images files using the Global Editor

  5. When you exit the Global Editor it may prompt you to write the changes back to the drawings if you have not chosen to manually update the image files.

  6. If you have chosen to manually update the image files, then you must use the DBF->DWGs function to write the changes back to the drawing files.
