How to route a cable the same as another cable

For any cable you can specify that it should be routed with exactly the same route as another cable. When you do this Cable Scheduler will make a copy of the raceway group from that other cable to a new raceway group for the cable you are working on. This will occur regardless of errors that may occur such as overfilling. The cable will also be LOCKED to prevent auto routing.

After doing this Cable Scheduler will run the auto router to check the route and calculate fills and lengths and issue any warnings created by the operation.

Procedure

  1. Right click on the cables to be routed.

  2. Select Copy route of another cable... from the context menu.

  3. Select the desired cable to copy.

The auto router will now run to check the route and calculate the cable's length and then the database will be updated.

The copy exact is one of three cable route "copy" functions. You can also copy a cables guide (the waypoints used for another cable) to produce a similar route OR you can copy a cables "Home Run" which is an operation that uses the COMPLETE route of a cable (as opposed to a few waypoints) to guide the new cable.
