Referencing a Reference Drawings Table

Overview

If you are using a reference drawings system and wish to place drawing references on your wiring diagram that refer to a reference drawings table, you can configure the Wiring Diagram Generator to do this.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the Back annotate references to the Reference Drawings table setting in the cross reference settings is enabled. You must also ensure that drawing references between the appropriate types of component representations are enabled in the checkbox matrix (on the same preferences page).

  2. There are two types of references that support the use of drawing references:

    • For Conductors (Wires and Cores): The Wiring Diagram Generator allows you to include a WireDiag Destination Reference in any of the conductor attributes on the WD conductor symbols. Use the Wiring Diagram Annotation preferences to add a WireDiag Destination Reference option to one of the conductor attributes.

    • For Cable Tails: Ensure your cable tail symbol has WD_DESTXRF attribute and that the attribute has an insert point at the location that you want to use for your reference symbol.

  3. Generate or Refresh the Wiring Diagram.

The reference symbol will be placed at the insert point of the WD_DESTXRF attribute (or the chosen attribute of the conductor for wires and cores). Attributes of that reference symbol will be loaded with the destination device's information.
