Device Symbol Attributes

The supplied device symbols have the set of attributes shown below.

NB: "(cat)" indicates an attribute can be loaded from the catalog.

Hydraulic symbols are provided in EDS as single line device symbols. Therefore hydraulic symbols also have the attributes shown below.

Device Attributes

TAGNAME visible Tag of component (All devices must have a unique tagname)
TAGSUFX visible Suffix to attach to the TAGNAME in reports.
RATING1 visible (cat) User specified rating or AMPS rating
RATING2 visible (cat) User specified rating or VOLTS rating

RATING3 visible (cat) User specified rating or OHMS/COLOR rating
RATING4 visible (cat) User specified rating or WATTS rating
REFERENCE visible Cross reference data is automatically loaded to this attribute.
TERMPRFX visible (cat) Prefix to attach to the terminal numbers in reports.
T1 see below (cat) First of a fixed array of six terminal numbers
T2 see below (cat) Second terminal number
T3 see below (cat) Third terminal number
T4 see below (cat) Fourth terminal number
T5 see below (cat) Fifth terminal number
T6 see below (cat) Sixth terminal number
CATDESC invisible (cat) Catalog description of component (e.g. "Low speed motor")
VISDESC visible Users visible description of component. (e.g. "Conveyor drive")
PNLNO invisible Panel enclosing device
MFG invisible (cat) Manufacturer code number ( from manufact.dbf )
CATNO invisible (cat) Manufacturers part number
(with any subcomponent code appended e.g.*0 or *M2 )
USER_C1 visible (cat) User definable attribute, centre justified
USER_C2 visible User definable attribute, centre justified
RSTATUS invisible (cat) Control code for the "report status"
e.g. Set to "No BOM" to exclude from the materials reports
VSN invis. const. Version number, for internal use only
LENGTH invis. const. Length of symbol
BUSW invis. const. Code specifying the terminal arrangement of the device

Notes

  • Terminals T1..T6 are visible for schematic symbols and invisible for single line and hydraulic symbols.

  • The positioning of the six terminals is always in the same uniform pattern. On devices with fewer than 6 terminals, the extra terminal attributes should be ignored. If more than 6 terminals are required, the device should be broken down into logical sub-components. E.g. a relay can be broken down into: coil, NO contact, NC contact and 3 phase contacts.

  • Terminal layout and number is unimportant in single line and hydraulic symbols.

  • Elecdes provides fast methods of loading this attribute set upon inserting, via the Catalog, and when editing with the Global Editor.

  • All of the invisible attributes are used only in reporting. If you do not intend to create reports for your drawings, you will not need to enter data for invisible attributes.

  • For a description of the TAGSUFX and TERMPRFX attributes see Component Naming (Ebase).
