Raceway Cross Section Reports

To assist conductor pulling, identifying conductors and for further analysis of optimisation, Paneldes provides a detailed ROUTE SEGMENT cross section list for all of the routes in which it has placed conductors.

File Details

  • Paneldes route segment cross section lists are DBASE 3 compatible database files.

  • The files are generated for wires and cables and will be named "YourProjectNameWIREXSECT.DBF" and "YourProjectNameCABLEXSECT.DBF" respectively.

  • These databases will be generated automatically in the current Elecdes project directory when you have routed conductors.

  • One wire and cable cross section database only will be allowed per Elecdes project.

  • The width of the file (number of fields) is defined by the largest number of conductors in any route segment plus seven.

Conductor List

We will assume that X is the number of conductors in any route segment.

The Conductor list, i.e. COND1 CONDX, is the conductor cross section for this segment.

The Fill_Info field will inform you how FULL this segment is (possibly under- or OVER-utilised).

Bottlenecks

Your conductor names may have a suffix: (BKF), (BKS), (BKW), (BKA), (BKP), (BKV), (BKR), or (BKN).

If this is the case, then a useable route has not been found for that conductor.

Paneldes is indicating that any conductors with such a suffix may be experiencing bottleneck problems, or impassable restrictions, in your raceway network.

When the "Join Disconnected Networks" option is set in routing preferences, raceway on 2 different networks can join on a bottleneck pass via a "bridging connection". This assists with problem diagnosis on bottlenecked conductors.

File Structure

The data base file structure is the same for both wires and cables.

REPORT implies a field is analysis data.

Field Width Usage Description
DRAWING 54   The filename of the model on which the segment is drawn (without .dwg extension).
COND_TYPE 10   Whether the conductor is a wire or cable.
CLASS 10 REPORT The CLASS of raceway segment for the record.
SEGMENT 25 REPORT The tagname of the raceway segment.
LENGTH 10 REPORT The length of the raceway segment.
INNERWIDTH 25 REPORT The inner width of the raceway segement. ( Evaluates to width of the segment - 2 * width of the wall )
POWER 64 REPORT The power index value for the raceway segment.
CABLEFACTR 15 REPORT The cable carrying capacity for the raceway segment.
CABLE_CF 15 REPORT Summed cable factor of the conductors in the raceway segment.
TOTAL_FILL 15 REPORT Aggregated fill of all split parts of this raceway segment.
SPLIT_PCT 15 REPORT The percentage of the width of the segment prescribed by the modeller for this power-split.
FILL_INFO 30 REPORT

Utilisation of this segment.

(Percentage full)

WEIGHTFCTR 15 REPORT The weight limit for conductors placed in raceway.
CABLE_WT 15 REPORT Summed weight of the conductors in the raceway segment.
FILL_WT 30 REPORT

Utilisation of this segment.

(Percentage full)

WARNINGS 30 REPORT Warning messages.
FILLMETHOD 48 REPORT

Method by which the raceway filling was calculated.

Most useful when checking which type of NEC raceway filling rule was applied.

CFUSED 15 REPORT Percentage of the cable capacity of this segment that is used by exiting cables that are not in this project.
CFRSVD 15 REPORT Percentage of the cable capacity of this segment that is reserved for future use.
COND(X) 25 REPORT One of the conductor tagnames in this segment.
