Schematic/Single Line diagram symbols
General
Schematic and Single line diagram symbols are known as devices.
Schematics symbols represent device components or device subcomponents for use in constructing electrical schematic diagrams. e.g. fuses, contacts, switches, motors etc.
Single Line Diagram symbols are single line representations of device components or device subcomponents for use in constructing one line power diagrams, or single line diagrams.
Devices
The Elecdes definition of a device component is: 1 device = 1 item purchased from an Electrical wholesaler. Elecdes devices may consist of several device subcomponents.
e.g. a relay that consists of a coil and several contacts.
In this case more than one symbol is used to represent 1 item purchased.
Symbol File names
The file/block names for all device symbols begin with a prefix of 'hi' or 'vi'.
e.g. "hifu.dwg" for a fuse.
The 'i' in the block name identifies the symbol as a device symbol.

Directory
The files for these symbols are all found in the following directories:
-
Schematics symbols: <EDS >\IMP_SCHE and <EDS >\MET_SCHE (for metric users);
-
Single Line Diagram symbols: <EDS >\IMP_SLIN and <EDS >\MET_SLIN (for metric users)
-
User created schematic and single line symbols should be created in the <EDS>\USER_SYMB directory.
Location on the Menu
The icon menus for schematic symbols can be found on the
menu. The symbols are divided into device type categories, listed below. Each category displays an ICON menu of device symbols.3 Phase symbols | 3 phase switchgear, 3 fuses, 3 phase motors, transformers etc. |
Breakers | One through four pole circuit breakers and overloads. |
Fuses | One through four pole fuses and fused switches. |
Contactors & Starters | Single and multi-phase contactors. |
Isolators, Disconnecting Switches | One through eight pole, on/off load disconnecting switches. |
Transformers & Motors | Various transformers, CTs, motors, generators and motor parts. |
Relay and other coils | Relay coil options. |
Relay Contacts | Relay contact options. |
Switches Normally Open | A selection of normally open switches. |
Switches Normally Closed | A selection of normally closed switches. |
Reverse Inserted Symbol | Creates and inserts a reversed version of an existing symbol. |
Resistors | A selection of resistors. |
Meters | Ammeters, voltmeters etc. |
Lamps | A selection of lamps, beacons etc. |
Misc. (fuses, C/Bs etc) symbols | Miscellaneous device (and other) symbols. |
The icon menus for single line diagram symbols can be found on the
menu. The symbols are divided into device type categories, listed below. The 1 Line General Load symbol can be used to represent any general load or device. One line Breakers | One through four pole circuit breakers and overloads. |
One line Fuses | One through four pole fuses and fused switches. |
One line Contactors & Starters | Single and multi-phase contactors. |
One line Isolators, Disconnecting Switches | One through eight pole, on/off load disconnecting switches. |
One line Transformers, Motors, Generators etc | Various transformers, CTs, motors, generators and motor parts. |
One line Miscellaneous symbols | Miscellaneous device (and other) symbols. |
One line General Load Symbol | A single generic box symbol that represents any load or device. |
