How to Control Attribute Edit Propagation

Settings for Attribute Edit Propagation

Enabling and Disabling Attribute Edit Propagation

Tick Enable propagation of attribute edits to allow Elecdes to attempt to propagate changes other symbols representing the same component, when the attributes of one component symbol are edited.

Forcing User-selected Propagation

If Elecdes can be certain that all symbols identifying a component are intended (by the user) to represent that component, then attribute changes are normally automatically propagated to all other symbols.

Tick Always prompt before propagation to override this behaviour and force Elecdes to always show the User-selected Propagation dialog, that offers the choice of which symbols the edit should be propagated to.

Logging Propagation of Attribute Edits

Tick Log propagation details to file to have Elecdes append a detailed log of the attribute changes applied to a monthly log file at <prj>\Logs\ElecdesAttributePropagation-YYYY-MM.txt. This option is recommended, as the log file records usernames, dates, times, and previous attribute values, should any attribute propagation need to be reverted.

Tick Log propagation details to command line to have Elecdes add a detailed log of the attribute changes to the CAD command window.

Saving Drawings after Modification

When attribute edits are propagated to symbols in drawings that are not currently open in the CAD session, those drawings are automatically opened, updated, and saved in the background.

Tick Save open DWGs after modification to automatically save updated drawings that are open in the CAD session as well.
