Users without networking software

If you have no network in your office then there is a possibility that networking software has not been installed on your PC. Typically you can establish whether you have networking software by running Control Panel -> Networking and checking for the presence of "Client for Microsoft Networks".

EDS software and licensing need to find a user name and computer name to operate correctly.

If your PC does not have network software installed then these may not be present or valid.

Cancelling your log on can also have the effect of nullifying your user name.

If any of the above information cannot be found then EDS will license you as ;

user name = "LOCALUSER".

This could become confusing if you later connect to a network and log on properly.

Hint

To avoid problems, install "Client for Microsoft Networks" even if you are not networking and always log on with your user name.
