How to Preset a Symbol Attribute in the Symbol File
Preset Symbol Attributes
The attributes in a symbol can be preset by putting a value in the attribute inside the symbol file. If you are trying to create a preset attribute you must ensure that the attribute name is not a field in the catalog or the <EDS>RTEMPLATE\template_$* file as this information will overwrite your attribute value if present.
Example Procedure For Making a Preset Device Symbol Attribute
-
Open the symbol file that you want to contain the attribute
-
Add the attribute to the symbol e.g. PRESET_ATT
-
Set the value of the attribute you have just made to the preset value required e.g. PRESET VALUE
-
Check to make sure the catalog files for this kind of symbol do not contain a field named PRESET_ATT
-
Check to make sure the <EDS>RTEMPLATE\template_$DEVIC.dbf does not contain a field named PRESET_ATT
-
Insert the symbol in Elecdes to verify the preset value is retained
