How to Add Wire Segment Numbers

Fundamentals

Any single wire that makes three or more terminations (a looped wire) will be physically connected as two or more individual segments of wire (excluding link or bridge bars for terminal strips). Each segment will have its own record in the FromToWire report. You can assign your own "segment number" to each wire segment from that one wire.

Specifying a Segment Number with Termination Blocks

Termination blocks are special control symbols that are placed at each termination of a conductor.

There are two blocks: HSCONX.DWG and VSCONX.DWG for horizontal and vertical conductor orientation.

Termination blocks should be edited in the Global Editor.

  1. Run the Global Editor.

  2. Select the class TERMINATION.

  3. The main list in the Global Editor will show an entry for each wire or cable core (conductor) termination. This is unlike other classes, which only show entries for symbols present in the drawings.

  4. Ensure that Auto-insert Termination Blocks is ticked. When the drawings are updated, a termination block will be inserted at the point where each conductor terminates at a component. One block for each entry in the list.

  5. To ensure reliable numbering of wire segments you should first set the wire termination order so that you have defined the pairs of terminals between which each wire segment is connected.

  6. The number for each segment can be specified by entering the number into the SEGNO_OUT column of the termination block for the first termination of each segment - as defined by the wire termination order.

  7. When the conductor reports are generated, the information specified by the SEGNO_OUT attribute of the termination blocks will be copied to the SEGMENT field of the conductor reports.
