How to Find and Replace Text in Component Data

If you wish to replace a text in any column(s) or fields of any class(es), click on the Find and Replace button at the top of the dialog. You will be presented with the Find and Replace dialog shown below.

Procedure

  1. Enter the text to find and the replacement text into the top two boxes.

  2. Tick Match Case if you want to limit the find so that it only matches the specified uppercase or lowercase letters

  3. Tick Whole Word Only if you want to limit the find so that it only matches the text as an isolated word without other joined text.

  4. Tick Change only selected records in [CURRENT CLASS NAME] if you want to limit the find in the selected records only. Un-ticking will enable finding in each record of the current class.

    Note: This check box will be automatically disabled if a class other than the current class is selected or more than one class is selected. The checkbox will be enabled again when the class selection is changed to current class.

  5. The Class List contains all the classes available for finding and replacing of text. You can tick the class(es) in which you want to find the text. You can quickly tick all of the classes or none using the Select All or Select None buttons below the list. On changing the class selection, the Column List is modified and all the editable fields of the selected classes are displayed.

  6. The Column List contains all the editable columns of the class(es) that have been selected in the Class list. You can tick the attributes in which you want to search for the text to find. You can quickly tick all of the attributes or none using the Select All or Select None buttons below the list.

  7. Click the Replace button when you are ready to find and replace the text. It will replace all found items in one operation.

Note that this function finds and replaces text only in the currently selected component records.
